Target, General Mills donate to East Coast disaster relief

Target Corp. is among the retailers making donations as relief efforts continue in response to the destruction caused Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast. The Minneapolis-based retailer is donating $500,000 in funds and products. Golden Valley-based General Mills is also contributing $250,000 to the recovery efforts.

Target Corp. is among the retailers making donations following the devastating destruction caused Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast. The Minneapolis-based retailer is contributing $500,000 in funds and products.

"Our thoughts are with the all of the residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy and we hope our donation will aid in the East Coast's recovery," Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel said in a news release.

Target has reopened the majority of its stores across the East Coast and is in the process of assessing the storm’s impact on its facilities.

Golden Valley-based General Mills is also donating $250,000 to aid disaster relief efforts, according to a news release.

General Mills to launch new yogurt
