Target is recalling night lights because they could start a fire
Minneapolis-based Target is recalling thousands of night lights after receiving a report that one overheated and caused a fire.
The recall involves about 143,000 Circo Night Lights that were sold at Target stores nationwide and online from October 2014 through May of this year for about $15, the recall announced Tuesday says.
The night lights are battery-operated and include an AC adapter. The battery can overheat and cause the night light to melt, which poses a fire hazard.
The recalled models (pictured above) include a pink hedgehog, a blue bird, a yellow rocket, an orange dinosaur egg, a white soccer ball and a green shark. Click here for affected model numbers.
Consumers are instructed to stop using the night light immediately and return it to any Target story for a full refund.
The recall comes after Target received two reports of the night lights overheating. One of those reports said a fire caused by the night light damaged a dresser, wall and plug-in.
No injuries were reported.
