Target's much-trumpeted partnership with Missoni led to more response than the discounter could handle. Web site crashes on the day sales were launched frustrated shoppers. Now the company faces fallout as the episode causes customers to sour on the Minneapolis retailer.

The Star Tribune reports Target had trouble processing the orders of people who did manage to get through on Target.com. The company says it's working to fix the problem.

In an Associated Press story Target says it has a team "working to address those guests who've been affected." But many of those people are venting their anger through social media.

While a number of analysts think Target's handling of the situation has made things worse, that's not a unanimous opinion. UPI spoke with one consultant who maintains the incident is good for Target.

Indeed, there's no denying the popularity of the Missoni For Target merchandise. CNN Money reports the prices of Missoni items are soaring on eBay.
