Tax Day deals, discounts and freebies to ease the filing pain

A taxpayer could work up quite a bit of hunger – and thirst! – slaving over a hot 1040 form.

As the last minute approaches, a number of fast food joints, restaurants and retailers are offering specials to ease the pain. BringMeTheNews looked at some of the lists compiled by budget gurus and dollar-stretchers. We've embedded some coupon links to make it easier to cash in.

FOX 9's Erin Schneider, known as the Cheap Chick, found these specials:

McDonald's – Buy a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with Cheese and get a second one for a penny. At participating restaurants.

Schlotsky's – Free original sandwich with the purchase of a 32-ounce drink and chips.

Olive Garden – Buy one of five $12.99 entrées to eat in, get another entrée free to take home.

Sonic Drive In – Drinks and slushies half price all day.

Boston Market – Two Half-Chicken Meals for $10.40 (usually $7.99 for one); offer includes a half chicken, two home style sides and freshly-baked cornbread.

Culver's – $2 Turtle Sundaes.

Meanwhile, on KARE, deal-finding blogger and author Carrie Rocha of the Pocket Your Dollars website tracked – and linked to – some additional Tax Day treats.

HydroMassageGet a free HydroMassage through April 18 to relieve the stress of tax filing. There are seven metro locations. You'll need a coupon and an appointment.

Arby's – Free snack-sized curly fries with this coupon, no other purchase necessary.

Great American CookiesFree chocolate chip cookie at the Mall of America.

Bruegger’s Big Bagel Bundle – Big Bagel Bundle (13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese) for $10.40 with the Bruegger's coupon available on their Facebook page (savings of $3.50).

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt – via the company's Facebook page, it offers a taxpayers the chance to fill a cup with frozen yogurt and toppings for $4.15.

White CastleSave 15 percent off your purchase at White Castle through Tax Day with this coupon.

Office DepotHere's the coupon link for up to five pounds of free document shredding (expires April 29).

Pizza HutOrder a large pizza and one of three sides for $10.99. You must enter the promo code TAXDAY to get the deal.

The EatDrinkDeals website offers details of the special at Papa John's Pizza, with a large five-topping pizza for $10.40 when you order online and use the promo code TXSPCL.

And the IHearttheMart website found these deals for the day:

Chili’s – Free appetizer or dessert with an entrée; here's the coupon (valid through April 18).

Cinnabon – Two free Cinnabon Bites on April 15 between 6 and 8 p.m.

Papa Murphys’s Pizza – $5 for a Large Pepperoni Pizza that you take and bake at home.
