TCF Bank to close five branches inside Twin Cities Cub Foods stores

The closures will happen in February.

TCF Bank has announced it will be closing five of its branches inside Cub Foods stores in Minnesota.

The Detroit-based bank has confirmed that the branch closures will happen on Feb. 24 and 25, with all affected branches in the Twin Cities metro.

The branches at the following Cub Foods are affected.

  • 2050 Northdale Blvd., Coon Rapids.
  • 4801 County Road 101, Minnetonka.
  • 3620 Texas Ave. S., St. Louis Park.
  • 1440 University Ave. W., St. Paul.
  • 3784 150th St. W., Rosemount

In a statement to Bring Me The News, TCF Bank said: "TCF Bank made the difficult decision to close five banking centers in select Cub Foods grocery stores in Minnesota. 

"TCF Bank is committed to minimizing the impact of this change on its customers and team members. We will continue to serve customers in Minnesota at 80 banking centers and 270 ATMs, including our remaining 32 banking centers in Cub Foods grocery stores."

The company said it would work to retain affected staff members at its other locations.

It also said that the closures aren't related to its merger with Chemical Financial Corp. earlier this year, which saw the bank's HQ shift from Wayzata to Michigan.

"We started evaluating consolidations prior to the merger as part of our normal business review and these banking centers would have closed regardless of the merger," a spokesperson said.
