A teenage boy sparked a swift investigation at Prior Lake High School on Monday when he brought a BB gun to school.
The Savage Police Department says it was called to the school at 9:14 a.m. after a report from the school of a "potential weapons violation."
Helped by high school staff, police arrested a 16-year-old boy in the 14400 block of Hwy. 13 in Savage, about two miles from the school.
He has since been charged with felony possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, misdemeanor possession of dangerous weapon – replica firearm on school property, and gross misdemeanor carrying a BB gun in public.
"The department commends the hard work of our officers and detectives for their diligence and swift action in determining the identity and location of the suspect, and the cooperation received from the Prior Lake High School," the police department said.
The incident remains under investigation by police, and anyone with information is asked to call Captain Bruce Simon on 952-882-2606.
