A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection to a carjacking in which two other teens were shot in Columbia Heights earlier this week.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says it assisted Columbia Heights Police and the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force in arresting the 16-year-old suspect on Thursday.

Charges are pending and no other information was released.

The carjacking happened at Monday around morning around 5:30 a.m. near 42nd Avenue and Fillmore Street. A 17-year-old male from Maple Grove called 911 and told dispatch that he and a 16-year-old male from Brooklyn Park were shot and his vehicle was stolen.

The teens were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center to treat their gunshot wounds.

Police said the carjackers were a Hispanic male and a Hispanic female.

The case remains under investigation. It's not yet clear if the stolen vehicle, a 2016 white Jeep Patriot, has been recovered.
