Teen bicyclist dies in head-on crash with motorist in Blaine

An investigation is ongoing after a teenage boy was fatally struck by a motorist in Blaine Friday evening. 

The collision was reported at 6:36 p.m., with first responders arriving at the intersection of 129th Ave. NE and Lincoln St. and attempting lifesaving measures on the teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Information from a preliminary investigation shows that the boy was biking with two other teens eastbound on 129th Ave. NE when the driver of a westbound passenger car struck the victim head-on. 

The identities of the victim and driver have not been released. 

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office reports that it is "unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash," which remains under investigation with crash reconstruction assistance being conducted by the Minnesota State Patrol.
