A teenage boy died Monday in southeast Minnesota when another boy landed on top of him while they were jumping into a lake from a cliff.
The incident was reported to the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office at 5:25 p.m. after a teenager didn't resurface after jumping from a cliff into Lake Byllesby near Cannon Falls.
The sheriff's office says 17-year-old Garrett N. Berg, of Farmington, jumped into the lake and was landed on by another kid who jumped immediately after him. Berg never surfaced after being landed on, the sheriff's office said.
Berg's body was found around 8:15 p.m. by the Goodhue County Dive Team.
The sheriff's office notes that the Lake Byllesby cliffs can only be accessed through private property, and violators are frequently asked to leave the area. Early Monday, deputies removed around 30 people from the area.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine an official cause of death for the boy.
