A man and woman traveling together on a motorcycle died Sunday afternoon when they were struck from behind by a the driver of a pickup in east-central Minnesota.
The Minnesota State Patrol says Jerry Dean McDowell and Sharon Marie McDowell, ages 66 and 61, respectively, were traveling together on a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Hwy. 48 in Pine County when they slowed to turn north on Fleming Logging Road.
As they were attempting to turn left they were struck by a 17-year-old male, who was also eastbound on Hwy. 48 in a 1997 Chevy 1500 pickup.
The McDowells, of Pine City, died at the scene. Both were wearing helmets, the State Patrol said.
The crash happened at approximately 1:08 p.m. and road conditions were dry.
No further information about the 17-year-old driver has been released.
