Teen driver leaves road, crashes into three trees
A teenage driver escaped serious injury after a crash early Thursday morning that saw his vehicle strike three trees.
The incident was reported at 7:42 a.m. on County Road 2 just north of Cold Spring, with a 911 caller saying a vehicle had left the road and crashed into the tree.
The 16-year-old driver, from St. Joseph, was evaluated at the scene for injuries, and his parents were also called to the scene.
Investigation found he was heading southbound towards Cold Spring in the Honda SUV when he left the road and entered the east ditch.
He then struck a driveway marker and two pine trees, before smashing into a third tree, coming to a rest.
He was able to get out of the vehicle on his own.
Paramedics cleared him after a medical check. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the
Novak was cleared by rescue and later left the scene with his parents. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Andy’s Towing and the owners of the damaged property were notified. The Cold Spring Police Department assisted with this crash. The crash remains under investigation.
