Teen hit and killed by car while flagging down another vehicle for help in northern Minnesota
A teenager died when she was hit by a car after her vehicle broke down in northern Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 18-year-old Kimburly L. Loycano, of International Falls, was hit by a Ford Focus as she walked south on Hwy. 71 in Koochiching County along with the other occupants of the broken-down vehicle.
The incident report from the State Patrol says Loycano and others were walking towards a house for help, and at one point Loycano tried flagging down another vehicle before when she was fatally struck by the southbound Focus.
The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. near mile post 406.
A 38-year-old man from Littlefork, Minnesota, driving the Ford Focus was not injured and alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
