Teen killed in Sunday crash; young man suffers life-threatening injuries
A 16-year-old passenger died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, and the driver suffered life-threatening injuries.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the crash happened near Cannon Falls around 2:45 a.m., when a Kia Soul that was northbound on Hwy. 52 left the roadway, entered the median and rolled across the southbound lanes.
A 16-year-old girl from Rochester died in the crash. She has been identified by the State Patrol as Haya Ambreen Mahmood.
The driver, a 22-year-old Rochester man, was transported to St. Marys Hospital at the Mayo Clinic with life-threatening injuries.
Neither Mahmood nor the driver were wearing a seatbelt, the State Patrol said.
