Teenage bicyclist hit and killed by car in Monticello

Authorities are investigating a fatal accident involving a teenage bicyclist in Monticello. 

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a 2013 Dodge Avenger was traveling north on Hwy. 25 in Monticello Township when it struck a 17-year-old boy riding a bike in the left lane. 

The car was also in the left lane when it struck the bicyclist near Kjellberg Court around 9:50 p.m., according to the crash report. 

The boy's name has not been released, with the State Patrol identifying him as a 17-year-old from Monticello. His full identity is expected to be released later Thursday. 

A 25-year-old St. Cloud woman was driving the car involved in the collision. She was not injured. 

Alcohol was not a factor, the crash report notes.
