A 15-year-old boy is in a Twin Cities hospital after he was pulled from an apartment complex pool by a police officer on Thursday.

The boy was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool at the Garden View Apartments in New Brighton around 5:30 p.m.

According to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, a New Brighton police officer jumped in and pulled the boy out.

First responders were able to regain a pulse, with the boy then taken to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. There's no further update on his condition.

The sheriff's office says there was no lifeguard on duty at the time.

The Garden View Apartment Complex is located just off of I-694 in New Brighton.

So far this year, there have been fewer drownings and fatal boating accidents in Minnesota than at the same time last year.

The latest figures sent to BMTN by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety shows that there have been 5 boating fatalities and 9 fatal non-boating accidents in the state in 2019.

That's six fewer deaths than there were at the same time in 2018.
