A teenager is in critical condition and two others are under arrest after a stabbing at a boys basketball game in Woodbury Thursday night.

Woodbury Police say a fight broke out as the crowd attending the Class 4A, section 4 championship game between Tartan and North. St. Paul at East Ridge High School left the building.

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed during the fight and was taken to Regions Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Two other boys have been arrested by police, who are looking for others who may have been involved.

According to the Pioneer Press, it stemmed from an argument that started just inside the school and turned physical outside school doors.

It's unknown as this stage if the boys involved were students of East Ridge High School.

"There is no indication that East Ridge students were involved in any way," a South Washington County school district spokesperson told the Pioneer Press. "While we have no fear of any safety concerns, in an effort to ease any fears we will have a heightened police presence at the start of the school day (on Friday)."

MN Basketball Hub reports the North St. Paul Polars won the game 70-65, making their first state championship in 17 years.
