Teenager killed, 16-year-old driver injured in crash near Rochester

An 18 year old died and a 16 year old was injured.

A teenage passenger involved in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon near Rochester was killed and two others were injured. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. when a 2017 Jeep Wrangler struck a 2004 Honda Accord that was attempting to cross Hwy. 14 from County Road 3, which is just east of Byron and about eight miles west of Rochester. 

The passenger in the Accord, identified as 18-year-old Michael Hendrix of Beroun, Minnesota died at the scene. The 16-year-old male driver was injured and transported to Mayo Clinic's St. Marys Hospital. 

The extent of the 16-year-old's injuries are unknown, but state patrol officials say he was not wearing a seat belt. 

A 60-year-old Byron, Minnesota man driving the Wrangler suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was also taken to St. Marys Hospital.
