Two teenagers have been charged in connection with a shooting that happened last weekend when people lined up outside a Brooklyn Center shoe store for new Air Jordans.

The suspects are both 17-year-old males, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

They were arrested Wednesday evening in connection with the shooting that injured two men outside the Foot Locker on Shingle Creek Parkway.

People had lined up for the release of the the new Air Jordan 2 Retro "Wing it" shoes.

Police were called to the Foot Locker store around 9:40 a.m. after reports of people with weapons, the news release says. Then around 10 a.m., shots were fired.

The attorney's office says police saw the two suspects trying to get away from the scene, one had been shot in the leg.

Authorities say they spoke with witnesses, one witness said a teen started fighting with the victim over shoes. The teen pulled out a gun and shot the victim, then the witness – who has a permit to carry – fired his gun at the suspect, the witness said.

Police took the injured teen into custody, the other teen escaped, the attorney's office reports.

Officials say the victim suffered shots to the liver, kidney and arm.

One teen has been charged with attempted second degree murder, as well as first and second degree assault, the charges say.

According to authorities, the other boy has been charged with aiding and abetting attempted second degree murder and second degree assault.

The attorney's office says it has filed a motion to have both boys certified as adults.
