Wet snow that fell in the Twin Cities Thursday night into this morning has made for a messy commute to work, with speeds crawling as early as 6 a.m. and only expected to get worse during the brunt of the morning rush.
Roads in the metro area are slick and partially covered in snow along with icy ramps and overpasses. As you can see in the metro map below, spinouts and crashes are piling up as of 6:30 a.m., as indicated by the purple diamonds.
Snow began falling during the evening commute Thursday and led to 172 crashes in Minnesota between 5-9 p.m. in addition to 75 vehicles spinning out off the road. Twenty-six of the crashes resulted in injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Slow down and give yourself extra time to get where you need to go this morning.
