Thank a cop, it's Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Concerns of Police Survivors – a group that supports families, friends and coworkers of law enforcement workers killed on duty – is asking people to thank a cop Saturday in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD).
Some businesses and schools in the Moorhead area celebrated early. Clay County actually asked everyone in the area to show their appreciation by wearing blue on Friday.

But dressing in blue isn't the only way to show your appreciation. Concerns of Police Survivors says people can also show their support by sharing a positive story about police on social media.

You can also honor law enforcement by sending a letter to local police, thanking an officer or changing your Facebook profile picture.

There are about 900,000 officers serving in the United States, and on average 146 are killed each year, according to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund.
The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association says more than 50,000 officers are assaulted and 15,000 are injured every year.
