Minnesota braced for snow and ice on Monday

Although parts of the state have already experienced snow this week, the rest of Minnesota can expect winter-like conditions to arrive in full force Monday with snow and frigid temperatures on the way. After temperatures rise to near 40 degrees on Sunday, they are expected to plunge into the upper 20s and lower 30s from Tuesday to Thursday, with morning lows in the teens.

Fire destroys $1m home

A million-dollar home in Eden Prairie was destroyed in a fire overnight. Firefighters from ten departments in the Twin Cities were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived the fire was well advanced and flames could be seen for miles around. The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is believed to have started in the garage.

High school senior fights for life after crash that tore pickup in two

A high school senior is fighting for her life after an accident tore her pickup truck in half Thursday. Jessica Erickson's Chevrolet Colorado hit a patch of ice on her way to school in Forest Lake and it sent her vehicle into the path of an oncoming Volvo SUV. She remains in critical condition in hospital after undergoing surgery.

Scrabble tile to decide election winner after stalemate

The decision of who will become the next 1st District commissioner in Cook County, Northeast Minnesota, will be decided by whichever candidate selects a 'Z' Scrabble tile from a bag, after Tuesday's election ended in a dead heat. Frank Moe and Kristin DeArrude Wharton will find out on Monday who will take up the role of County Commissioner after both polled 246 votes.

Everson Griffin: Every Viking wants Peterson back

Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has said every player at the franchise wants Adrian Peterson back on the field. It comes after the NFL rejected a request from the Peterson camp for his immediate reinstatement to the team following the running back's plea deal with a Texas court over allegations he hit his son with a switch. Griffen said he would be welcomed back with open arms.
