'The children look delicious': Woman arrested over threatening letter to neighbor

A woman in Champlin has been arrested after allegedly sending her neighbor a letter that suggested she would like to eat her children – following a dispute over a mess they made in her yard.

An anonymous letter simply saying "The children look delicious. May I have a taste?" arrived at a family's home on Sept. 27, which the recipient subsequently posted on the Champlin community Facebook page and sent to police.

WCCO reports that the family then began receiving magazine subscriptions addressed to "tasty children" rather than the family's name.

A 38-year-old woman has since been arrested by police on suspicions of making terroristic threats, though has not yet been charged. WCCO says she admitted sending the note and magazines because the children at the house "were always putting stuff on her porch."

Since the story was reported initially on Wednesday, it has been trending on Facebook and was picked up by media outlets around the world, including Heavy.com, the Mail Online, and News.com in Australia.

After receiving the letter, the victim posted on the Champlin Facebook page: "NO you may not have my children in any way, shape or form. And beyond anything physical you may NOT rob them of the security and comfort they feel.

"The trust they have in other people, or the joy they experience on a daily basis because of who they are. You DO NOT have the right to try to steal this from them by sending an anonymous letter trying to rip their world apart."

The 38-year-old has been released by police, with the Champlin city attorney reviewing her case, WCCO notes.
