The Doctor is coming to Minneapolis Comic Con – but it'll cost you big bucks to meet him

Peter Capaldi, the man known as "The Doctor" on the cult TV show Doctor Who, will be at the Minneapolis Wizard World Comic Con in May.

As coups go in the sci-fi television world, they don't come much bigger than the time-traveling Doctor, with the BBC-made series a worldwide phenomenon that has a fervent following in the U.S. thanks to its broadcast on BBC America.

Capaldi, who is the 12th actor to play The Doctor, is only the fifth star to be announced for the convention, with many more expected to be revealed ahead of the May 5-7 event.

Joining him at Comic Con will be Lou Ferrigno, who played The Incredible Hulk in the '80s TV series (and also gave this awesome turn in I Love You, Man), The Monkees' original members Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz, and singer-turned-actress Nichelle Nichols, who played the original Uhuru in Star Trek.

However, if you're looking to bring home a memento of your time with the stars, namely an autograph or a photograph, be prepared to shell out.

Based on the stars confirmed to attend so far, a photograph will set you back at least $55 (Lou Ferrigno is the cheapest right now) while autographs start at $40 (Ferrigno, Tork and Dolenz).

If you want to get a snap with The Doctor? That'll be $105. An autograph meanwhile will be $100, or $125 for a "premium" autograph, which is Capaldi signing an item you supply.

And if you want to jump the line to get to meet The Doctor at your convenience, you can fork out for VIP access. This gets you into the convention 30 minutes early, gives you a fastpass to autographs and photos with Capaldi, and tickets to all three days of the convention.

That will set you back $349.99. Regular three-day admission for the convention costs $75, with single-day passes costing $35-$45.

It's pricey, but bear in mind this will be the only time Capaldi is in the Twin Cities as The Doctor at least. He is leaving the show at the end of the year and will pass the role on to someone else.

And if you're a Capaldi fan, then we urge you to check out The Thick Of It, the satirical political series that made him a huge star across the Atlantic. Think Veep but set in the U.K. (both were made by the same person, Armando Ianucci).
