Gander Mountain is gone, long live Gander Outdoors.

The St. Paul-based outdoor goods chain has undergone a rebrand since it filed for bankruptcy and was bought out by Camping World owner and CNBC reality TV star Marcus Lemonis.

Now named Gander Outdoors, the company confirmed that its first new, rebranded store will open on Wednesday – and it's the one in Lakeville.

In the coming months, former Gander Mountain stores in Baxter, Bemidji, Forest Lake and Hermantown are expected to reopen under the new name as well.

Meanwhile, Lemonis is keen to open a new store in Woodbury, which would be a hybrid of Gander Outdoors, plus his own Camping World (which sells RVs) and Overtons (which sells boats, watersports equipment and fishing gear).

Gander Mountain stores in Blaine, Eden Prairie, Mankato, Rochester, Rogers and St. Cloud are closed for good.

The company released a timelapse video showing the Lakeville store coming together.

Customers can expect to find a refreshed layout at Gander Outdoors, and a mixture of products Gander Mountain was known for along with new arrivals.

What you can probably expect fewer of, however, is guns.

Lemonis said earlier this year that Gander Mountain made a "bad bet" on firearms, overspending on inventory and expanding "beyond all common sense" into markets, St. Louis Today reported.

The investment in guns by Gander Mountain, which billed itself as "America's Firearm Superstore," was a particularly bad business move in the way of Donald Trump's election win. Sales plummeted as gun owners saw less of a threat to the 2nd Amendment, St. Louis Today said.

According to the Star Tribune it's not clear what the future is for Gander's firearms department.

Gander Outdoors is expected to reopen 15-20 stores by the end of the first quarter of 2018, and 40-45 more by October, the newspaper notes.
