The only person injured in a Bemidj-area explosion that leveled a house is reportedly doing OK.

The Bemidji Fire Department identified the man as Kenneth Swenson, the owner of the home and the only one inside at the time of Monday evening's explosion.

He was initially transported to Sanford Hospital, but the Bemidji Pioneer reports he was later airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

His wife told the paper Tuesday afternoon he's in fair condition.

Valley News Live reports he suffered cuts to his head and arms.

Explosion was heard for miles

Fire and police officers were called to the scene in Grant Valley Township shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.

According to a release from the Bemidji Fire Department, investigators believe the explosion may be related to a propane gas leak in the property, and released a photo of the debris-strewn scene.

WDIO reports calls came in from as far away as inside the city of Bemidji (about 5 miles away), and Hubbard County.

The force of the explosion reportedly caused windows to rattle and pictures to be dislodged from the walls of nearby properties.
