The reboot of the Spider-Man reboot actually looks pretty fun

Spider-Man: Homecoming is going back to the comic book's high school roots.

First there was the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, which everyone liked two-thirds of. Then Andrew Garfield got the chance to reboot the web-slinger, and that went ... not-so-great.

So now, not even three years later, we get the second reboot of the character – this time starring Tom Holland as a high school Peter Parker.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night. You can watch it above. He did pop up in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year for his screen debut.

They're clearly playing into Holland's (and the character's) youth this time – everyone actually looks like they're in high school this go-round, and that matches the source material. It also looks like Robert Downey Jr. will have a big role (which does not at all match the source material, but helps tie Spidey into the whole Marvel universe).

It's also worth noting this is the first Spider-Man movie that Marvel is involved in. Sony bought the rights away from Marvel years ago, before Marvel was doing movies, and helmed the Maguire and Garfield versions. But last year the two companies reached a deal to collaborate going forward, meaning Spider-Man can live within the Avengers world, not off on his own.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will make a zillion dollars at the box office for Marvel and Disney starting July 7, when it hits theaters.
