The sheriff's office wants your help naming its newest, adorable recruit

His Slovakian name is Hoky.

This German shepherd is the newest recruit for the Benton County Sheriff's Office's, but he needs a name.

The 1-year-old dog comes from Slovakia, where his name was "Hoky" (pronounced "hockey"), but the sheriff's office is looking for a new name for the "very social" and driven pooch.

If you have an idea for a name, you can comment it on the department's Facebook post here (only suggestions made on the post will be eligible).

The sheriff's office will announce the dog's new name in mid-January, and the person who suggested the winning name will get the chance to meet the K-9 and have their photo taken with him. If more than one person suggested the name, there will be a drawing for the winner.

The new K-9 is expected to be a "great asset to our office," the sheriff's office says. He and his handler will begin a four-month training course at the end of January, where he'll learn agility, handler protections, obedience, bite-work, article searches, area and building searches, tracking and how to recognize and alert to narcotics.

Benton County's K-9 program is fully funded by donations and the agency's annual K-9 golf tournament.

Here are some more photos of the sheriff's office's new K-9:
