The Wall Street Journal's ultimate Minneapolis weekend: Hour by hour

If you were going to schedule out the perfect Minneapolis four-day weekend for visiting friends or family, what sites would have to be on the list?

The Wall Street Journal came up with its itinerary for the ultimate whirlwind weekend in the city.

On the newspaper's schedule: a stay at the Aloft Minneapolis hotel and meals at Burch Steak and Pizza, Butcher & the Boar, Piccolo, and Bachelor Farmer. It recommends stops at The Mill City Museum, Walker Art Center, Weisman Art Museum, Guthrie Theater, First Avenue and Minnehaha Park, among others.

Says the WSJ: "This Midwestern city may bring to mind parkas before parks, and Vikings before biking, but Minneapolis is as sweet in summer as it is frigid in winter."

The Journal does not add up what it would cost to visit all these places in one action-packed weekend.

And no, the Journal does not recommend any side trips to St. Paul. Reuters did, though. Here's that news service's hour-by-hour perfect weekend in the Twin Cities, although Reuters writer Mark Meadows took some flak for what some deemed a lame travel guide, City Pages noted. Meadows recommends getting a corn dog at Target Field and eating at chain sandwich shop Potbelly.
