You should go outside this weekend – the weather is going to be pretty perfect.
After some cooler temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, things will warm up for the weekend. The forecast shows high temperatures in the 70s for much of Minnesota Saturday afternoon, along with plenty of sunshine.
Saturday's temperatures will be well above normal for this time of year. Weather records show the normal high for April 8 in the Twin Cities is 54 (the record high is 83), while Duluth's normal high is 45 (the record is 74).
The last time it got up to 70 degrees in the Twin Cities was early November, meteorologist Paul Huttner wrote on MPR News' Updraft blog.
However, weather models haven't quite agreed on what areas will see rain. One model shows northern Minnesota will get drenched, while two other models suggest thunder and rain in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota, Huttner explains.
