You have not drank too much rum – there is indeed a pirate ship sailing on the Mississippi River.

Daniel Kellogg and his vessel – Sirens Gate – pulled into La Crosse, Wisconsin Thursday, as one of the final stops before he reaches his final destination in the Twin Cities, WKOW reports.

Kellogg is 49 years old with three kids, CityPages reports. And while living in the Bahamas as a child, he developed a love of pirates – he now has a pirate-themed rec room in his house, and collects historic pirate artifacts.

Recently, he saw an online ad for a pirate ship in St. Louis – custom-built, but available after the original buyer reneged, the Winona Daily News says. Kellogg got in touch, and nine days ago flew down to the Gateway City for a test cruise.

It went well, he bought it, and since then he's been traveling up the mighty Mississippi River to bring the 50-foot Sirens Gate to her new home, KEYC says.

"It's been pretty fun," he told news stations of the trip. "People will hop in their boats, jump out there, circle the boat a couple times, throw us beers, raise their Jolly Roger, you know, give us 'arghs' all the time."

According to the Winona Daily News, he'll stop in Winona, Wabasha and Red Wing before reaching the Twin Cities (ideally by the end of the long weekend, he says).

Once docked, he'll use it as his vacation home.
