Bewigged thief steals eagle sculpture from outside Army vet's Coon Rapids home

Police are appealing for information.

An Army veteran in Coon Rapids was the victim of a theft last week, which saw a large bald eagle sculpture stolen from outside his home.

The theft happened on the 100 block of 121st Ave. NW. in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Surveillance footage released shows a suspect that appears to be a white man, possibly wearing a long, dark wig and gloves.

The statue is 7-feet tall and is valued at around $1,300. It has "MK '08" carved into the base along with a brass plate showing the name of the artist, Mark Kurtz.

"What makes this case so unique: the owner of the sculpture is an Army Vet with a strong emotional attachment to the item," Coon Rapids Police Department said.

"It represents his time of service to our country, and the statue was a gift from his children."
