Officials in the city of New Richmond, Wisconsin, told BringMeTheNews they're "disappointed" after finding a trail bench in the Willow River.

The bench had been located along the Doughboy Trail. City Administrator Mike Darrow says the trail has only been completed for about a year. He says the rustic wood benches have only been out for about six months.

Although the Facebook post mentioned tying down benches, Darrow says he hopes it doesn't get to that point. As of Monday, he says they're focused on getting the bench out of the river.

Darrow says he has no clue why someone would do this. And unless this keeps happening, there won't be any investigations. He says nothing like this has happened before and they don't usually have many issues with vandalism.
