Fans of old school hip-hop are finally getting the chance to see four famous acts -- LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Public Enemy and De La Soul -- all in one place as the Kings of the Mic stops Thursday at Target Center in Minneapolis.

The group of artists recently kicked off their 26 city nationwide tour, and appear to be off to a good start.

San Jose Mercury News critic Jim Harrington called the tour stop at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Calif., Saturday "a wonderfully nostalgic evening of music" and "an absolute history lesson in hip-hop, delivered by a quartet of acts who helped write the very rule book on rap."

Harrington praised the show for its variety, noting how each of the artists helped define an area of old school hip-hop.

"LL is the pop star, specializing in love jams. Cube is gangsta rap. Public Enemy is fiercely political. De La Soul represents the alt hip-hop world," Harrington wrote. "What else could an old-school hip-hop fan want from a show?"

While LL Cool J is headlining the show, Harrington wrote, "All four acts scored high marks, yet Public Enemy was clearly at the head of the class."
