Timeline of Justine Damond's fatal shooting

Looking at the chain reaction that started with the beloved 40-year-old's death in July last year.

Officer Mohamed Noor is in custody and is expected to be charged with the murder of Justine Damond in Minneapolis last July.

Here's how the sequence of events have played out since the night the 40 year old died.

Saturday, July 15

Damond calls 911 at 11:27 p.m. after hearing what sounded like a possible rape to the rear of her house in the 5000 block of Washburn Avenue S.

Officers Matthew Harrity and Mohamed Noor arrive 15 minutes later and drive down the alley behind the house.

Damond then approached the driver's side window and Noor fired, hitting Damond. She was pronounced dead 10 minutes after the officers arrived.

Sunday, July 16

Zach Damond, Justine's stepson, reveals in a video post it was the 40-year-old Australian native and meditation teacher who died, and calls for answers as to how she came to be shot.

Later, hundreds attend a vigil at the end of Damond's street.

Monday, July 17

Her fiance, Don Damond, says he's "desperate for information" and that he's "utterly devastated" by her death.

The officer who shot her is first identified as Mohamed Noor, who released a statement saying he "would like to say more, and will in the future" but for now wanted to respect the family's privacy while investigations are ongoing.

Tuesday, July 18

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirms Noor has declined an interview with BCA agents.

It also reveals that the officers heard a "loud sound" just before Noor shot Damond – a week later it was reported a woman slapped their squad car shortly before the shooting.

Friday, July 21

Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau resigns at the request of Mayor Betsy Hodges. She was out of the state at the time of the shooting and was criticized for not returning quickly enough.

A march for Damond is held the same day.

Wednesday, July 26

New police chief Medaria Arradondo announces new bodycam measures after it was revealed neither officer had their cams activated at the time of the shooting.

Tuesday, Sept. 12

The Minnesota BCA wraps its investigation and forwards it to the Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, who will decide whether to prepare charges.

Wednesday, Dec. 13

Freeman is confronted by activists at a holiday party who ask him why no charges have been brought.

He says he doesn't have the evidence yet, explaining he needs to prove the circumstances beyond a reasonable doubt before charging.

Wednesday, Jan. 24.

It's revealed that a Grand Jury has been convened in the Damond case, even though Freeman said he wouldn't use them for officer-involved shootings anymore.

He instead intended to use it so that officers would be forced to testify under oath in the case.

Tuesday, Mar. 20

Mohamed Noor hands himself in to authorities. He is expected to be charged with 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter in her death.
