Toddler dies after being run over in western Minnesota

A tragic accident in western Minnesota has resulted in the death of a young child. 

According to the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff's Office, a 21-month-old child was run over by an SUV shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday in Freeland Township, north of Canby or about 160 miles west of Minneapolis. 

The toddler was taken to Sanford Canby Medical Center and pronounced dead. 

The sheriff's release says the incident was an accident and foul play is not suspected. 

The child's identity has not been released.
