Train hits, kills person in Moorhead on Monday

It happened five blocks north of MSU-Moorhead.

A pedestrian was hit by a train in Moorhead on Monday afternoon. 

The collision happened around 4:30 p.m. at 14th Street and Main Avenue, according to Moorhead Police Department. Valley News Live reports that the person struck by the train was killed. 

The BNSF train involved stopped on the tracks and blocked multiple intersections, causing significant traffic delays in the area, which is five blocks north of the Minnesota State University, Moorhead campus. 

Railroad crossings were eventually reopened Monday evening. 

The identity of the victim has not been released and an investigation of the incident is ongoing.
