Train runs over, severs man's foot at rail crossing in Fargo

A train rolled over and severed a man's foot in downtown Fargo early Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at the rail crossing around 2 a.m., taking the man to the hospital by ambulance after finding him underneath the stopped train with his foot severed, the Forum reports.

According to KFGO, police identified the man as 49-year-old Derrick Jongward.

The paper says the crossing arms were down at the time of the incident.

The man was reportedly seen by the train's conductor sitting on the tracks, according to the Associated Press., and was partially pushed off by the train's engine guard, only to have his foot run over.
