Brutal conditions on Minnesota roads led to more than 800 crashes and spinouts in less than 48 hours.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were 388 crashes and 244 spinouts on Monday, and as of 9:50 a.m. Tuesday there have been a further 125 crashes and 88 spinouts.

That's a 34-hour total of 513 crashes and 332 spinouts; a whopping 845 incidents.

3 people died in Monday crashes

Three people were killed as the result of crashes on Monday.

The first happened Monday afternoon on Hwy. 61 near Duluth when a 31-year-old driver of a Buick slid across the center lane and was struck head on by a Lexus, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The driver of the Buick, 31-year-old Courtney Ryan of St. Paul, died.

The second death occurred in a three-vehicle crash around 8 p.m. in Ham Lake in the north metro, according to WCCO. The identity of the person killed hasn't been released yet.

The third happened in rural Minnesota on Hwy. 212 in Renville County. The state patrol say 25-year-old Ahmad Hassan of South Sioux City, Nebraska, slid through an intersection before rolling his Pontiac G6 about 10 times.

More snow coming

While the freezing drizzle and snow that caused poor travel conditions the last 48 hours has moved out of Minnesota, the National Weather Services says another 1-3 inches of snow could fall across Minnesota again on Thursday.
