Family and friends have identified the mother and two children tragically killed in a crash near Thief River Falls last week.

Cassandra Flatland and her two sons, Hudson and Cooper Jones, died in a collision near Thief River Falls, northwest Minnesota, last Wednesday.

The 27 year old was driving home with her children, aged 4 and 1, after picking them up from daycare when the crash happened.

Her family and friends have been paying tribute to the trio, with the children's aunt Kimmy Burstad speaking to the Forum News Service about her nephews.

"They were so full of energy and life, getting into anything they could get into," she said.

“I have a hard time remembering this is real."

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help pay for funeral costs, and has so far raised more than $7,000.

Flatland, it says, was a "loving mother with a huge heart who always had a smile on her face."

"Her greatest love in life was becoming a mother of her two beautiful boys, Hudson and Cooper. Hudson's favorite toys were Thomas the Train and playing with his tools.

"He loved being an older brother and sharing with Cooper. Cooper loved watching football and hanging out with his older brother."
