A semi hauling dozens of logs in a trailer rolled into a ditch while trying to avoid another vehicle Wednesday night, injuring one person and spilling the logs all over the side of the road.

The incident happened around 8 p.m., on Highway 2 just west of Bemidji, the State Patrol says.

60-year-old Michael Tammaro was heading westbound in the semi, with the logs in a trailer behind him, when another vehicle pulled out in front. Tammaro swerved to avoid it, and his vehicle rolled over into the north ditch.

That spilled the logs all over the side of the road. A Ford Taurus driving the same direction struck one of the logs, but the driver was not injured.

Tammaro suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Bemidji.
