A Wisconsin trucker was killed in a crash in northwest Minnesota Thursday night.
The crash happened just after 8 p.m. in Fergus Falls, as the Minnesota State Patrol reports that the truck driver possibly suffered a medical emergency before running off the road and striking a power pole on W. Lincoln Ave. at N. Tower Rd.
The semi driver was transported to Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls where he died.
He has been identified as Samuel M. Hoffhein, 62, of Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash and Hoffhein was not wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said.
Road deaths in Minnesota are slightly down from what they were at this time a year ago. So far, 316 people have died on Minnesota roads, compared to 329 at the same time in 2018, according to the Department of Traffic Safety.
