Vanessa Trump, the wife of Donald Trump Jr. and daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, was taken to a Manhattan hospital Monday morning after she opened a letter filled with white powder.

CNN reports that the letter was addressed to Trump Jr. and delivered to their home address in Manhattan, where she opened it at about 10 a.m. local time.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the white powder has been deemed nonhazardous, with the New York Post reporting it's been identified as cornstarch.

Nonetheless the danger of poisoned letters is very real.

As Reuters points out, government officials have been watching for letters laced with white powder since 2001, when an anthrax-laced envelope resulted in five deaths.
