Try not to run into giant logs like this while you're on the lake

There was a near miss on Lake Bemidji for a boater who almost hit a floating object with a bark worse than its bite.

Beltrami County Sheriff's Office received a call over Labor Day weekend that a lake user almost hit an object sticking up in the water.

That object turned out to be the giant log pictured above, which had to be dragged to shore by sheriff's deputies.

It wasn't an easy task either, with water having seeped into the log's pores, weighing it down even more. In the end it required "a couple big strong deputies" to pull the log from the lake.

"Boaters are always urged to use caution on area lakes, things like this pop up... literally," the Sheriff's Office said.
