A Bloomington man drowned while kayaking on a northern Minnesota lake.
The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office says it was called to Long Lake in Glen Township on Sunday after a man was found unresponsive in the water.
A kayak was found on its side and a man was face down in the water, with a father and son bringing the man to shore and starting CPR.
Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful however. The victim has been identified as Paul Mott, 62, of Bloomington.
"Once North Ambulance crew took over CPR, deputies were able to speak with the men who brought the man and kayak to shore," Aitkin County Sheriff's Office said. "They indicated they had seen the man fishing from his kayak earlier."
"They confirmed the man was wearing a life vest while in his kayak. The next time they saw the man in the kayak, he was face down in the water and the kayak was on its side.
"They brought the man to shore where others rushed to their aid. Extensive lifesaving efforts were made, but were unsuccessful."
Long Lake in Aitkin County is about 15 miles from the north shore of Mille Lacs Lake.
