Twin Cities man killed in ATV crash in northern Minnesota

He hit a tree alongside his family cabin driveway.

A man from the Twin Cities has died after the ATV he was driving crashed into a tree in northeastern Minnesota.

The incident happened in Lakeview Township, Carlton County, just after noon on Sunday, when the driver lost control in the driveway of his family's cabin.

He struck a tree, sustaining injuries that require he be airlifted to Essentia Hospital in Duluth, where he later died.

The victim has not yet been identified, but the Carlton County Sheriff's Office did say he is a 36-year-old man from Brooklyn Center. 

Police say that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash.
