Twin Cities might be spared by midweek winter storm

Far southeastern Minnesota appears more likely to get hit.

February might go out with another big snowstorm, but this one appears on track to miss the Twin Cities, and maybe all of Minnesota.

However, the potential remains – especially for far southeastern Minnesota – to get some heavy snow and/or rain.

Here's what the National Weather Service-Twin Cities says as of Monday morning.

"The potential remains for significant snow across far southern Minnesota Wednesday night into Thursday. As was the case previously, there is still a lot of variability with this system. Temperatures could be a couple degrees warmer which would mean less snow and more rain. Meanwhile the track of the storm could shift and bring less precipitation all together."

Unless you really, really love the snow, then most Minnesotans will be happy to possibly catch a break with this one.

With the exception of southeastern Minnesota, the rest of the state picked up 8-12 inches of snow last week alone, with areas of northeastern Minnesota getting 18-24 inches.

Meanwhile, plenty of snow will melt Monday-Wednesday with temps close to 40 each day.

Another storm looks possible for this coming weekend, but that's a long way out so we'll sit tight and wait for a bit before thinking about it.
