Another weekend, another set of construction closures affecting I-35W in Minneapolis.
There are two major closures to be aware of this weekend, the biggest one being the shutdown of I-35W between I-94 and Hwy. 280.
The closure of the 4.3 mile stretch of interstate starts at 10 p.m. Friday and will last util 5 a.m. Monday, as MnDOT construction crews resurface the roadway between Washington and Portland avenues.
Northbound I-35W will still be open, but only to drivers who access it from Washington Avenue. The southbound freeway will be closed completely, with the detour via Hwy. 280 and I-94.
What's more, I-35W will also be closed northbound between Hwy. 62 and I-94 in south Minneapolis starting 10 p.m. Friday, re-opening at noon on Saturday.
Over in the east metro, there will be no access to I-35E southbound at the Forest Lake split between 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sunday, as crews remove the I-35W flyover bridge over I-35W.
On the plus side, the Twin Cities isn't hosting the smorgasbord of sporting and music events it was during last weekend's closures, with the Twins and Vikings both away from home, though Minnesota United play at Allianz Field Sunday afternoon.
