2 fraudsters flee low-security federal prison in NE Minnesota
The U.S. Marshals Service is trying to find two men who escaped from a low-security federal prison camp near the Duluth International Airport, WDIO reports.
The Duluth News Tribune says prison officials discovered Michael Krzyzaniak, 64, and Gerald Greenfield, 67, were missing from the facility Saturday night.
Krzyzaniak, of Minneapolis, is serving a more than 12-year sentence for bilking investors out of nearly $26 million.
Greenfield, of Bloomington, is serving a 4-year term for conspiracy to commit money laundering in a $2.5 million mortgage fraud scheme.
U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Thomas Volk told the Star Tribune that prisoners at the camp are there "on the honor system" instead of having locked cells.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either inmate is asked to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 218-720-3214 or call 911.
