Two people have been hospitalized after a water incident near a beach at Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis.

The incident was reported at Thomas Beach on the lake's south shore, with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office confirming that two individuals were pulled from the water.

The situation unfolded just after 7 p.m., with the sheriff's office saying there is no word yet on their condition, other than to say they were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Despite technically being closed for the summer due to COVID-19, with no lifeguards on duty as a result, the beaches on Bde Maka Ska have nonetheless remained busy.
