Two injured in another shooting near Minneapolis' Peavey Field Park

Police are investigating the shooting that has left one man in a serious condition.

A man is in a serious condition and another suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting near Minneapolis' Peavey Park on Friday.

Police were sent to Chicago Avenue and Franklin Avenue South at 12:40 a.m. after a ShotSpotter activation, which was confirmed as a shooting as officers were en route to the scene.

Police spokesman John Elder says they found a man with a serious gunshot wound, who was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Another man arrived at HCMC with a gunshot wound a short time later. Both are expected to survive.

It's the second shooting near the south Minneapolis park this week.

On Wednesday evening, a 19-year-old was shot multiple times. He is also expected to survive.

Peavey Field Park is one of several Minneapolis parks that are currently the site of homeless encampments. There's been no indication at this stage that the shootings this week involve anyone at the encampment.
